OpenAI, a leading artificial intelligence research laboratory, has released its latest language model, GPT-4. This advanced model boasts broader general knowledge and improved problem-solving abilities, making it capable of solving difficult problems with greater accuracy.

What is GPT-4?

GPT-4 is a language model designed to generate natural language responses to prompts entered by users. It can create captions, classifications, and analyses based on images and can generate long-form content, conduct extended conversations, and search and analyze documents with over 25,000 words of text. GPT-4 is also capable of generating, editing, and iterating with users on creative and technical writing tasks such as composing songs or writing screenplays.

How is GPT-4 Different?

OpenAI’s GPT-4 builds on its previous language models, GPT, GPT-2, and GPT-3, by using more data and computation to create increasingly sophisticated and capable language models. GPT-4 is designed to be more creative than its predecessors and produces safer and more useful responses. It has been optimized to produce factual responses, and the company claims that it is 82% less likely to respond to requests for disallowed content than GPT-3.5.

Improvements Made to GPT-4

OpenAI spent six months making GPT-4 safer and more aligned with its goals. The company incorporated feedback from over 50 experts, including feedback submitted by ChatGPT users, to improve GPT-4’s response time and behavior. The model was also trained on a larger and more diverse dataset to improve its general knowledge and problem-solving abilities.

Live Stream Demo

OpenAI President and Co-Founder, Greg Brockman, presented a demo for developers to showcase GPT-4 and some of its capabilities and limitations. The company aims to make GPT-4 widely available to developers, researchers, and businesses to help advance the field of natural language processing and AI.
